A publisher's apartment house on Brīvības iela

The publisher's apartment house on Brīvības iela was built in 1909; the architect was E. Laube.

It is a good example of how a stairwell can be made light and clean while preserving and restoring as much of the original decoration as possible. The wooden elements have been preserved and restored: doors, windows, the panelling on the walls by the entrance. Stained glass. Wrought-iron banisters. The old lift and the lift cage are in full order.

Very valuable remains of the original wall painting beside the entrance door have been carefully uncovered for viewing.
