National Botanic Garden in Salaspils (Nacionālais botāniskais dārzs)
11.06.2022

The National Botanic Garden (NBD) in Salaspils holds the largest plant collection in the Baltics: more than 14,000 varieties.

The collection dates back to 1798, while K. V. Shokh's nursery in Salaspils began working at the end of the 19th century. In 1956 the Botanic Garden was founded in its place.

The grounds are large, and walking them can be combined with a visit to a fair.

Fairs

The traditional “Zāļu diena” (Herb Day) fair was held on 11 June 2022: it started at 8:00 and finished at 14:00. Visiting it required a standard entrance ticket to the National Botanic Garden. The next fair, “Vitamīnu diena” (Vitamin Day), was planned for 17 September that year.
